Lent - day 45

So here goes:

1. Today Ziggy has been wriggling all day and it makes me smile (as do daffodils but not quite as much).
2. Today I actually learnt about pensions - a bit late I know but as they're changing them I finally thought I should work it out!
3. Today was lovely and sunny until about an hour before home time. I took advantage of the sun by going home at lunchtime to clean the kitchen and do all the dishes. That might not sound positive but it is because it means our kitchen looks less like a hygiene disaster zone!
4. Today 2 good things happened. Firstly I have admitted that I am not as unstoppable as usual which given that I'm now 32 weeks pregnant is a good thing. Being on my feet for most of the day has resulted in very swollen legs, ankles and feet. Perhaps it's time to admit defeat and take the next 8 weeks easy (or less if Ziggy makes an early appearance). The second cool thing was seeing a blue tit. I know that doesn't sound that exciting but they're my favourite and tiny birds like that are so perfect that they always fill me with wonder.
5. Today's one isn't hard. Scotland didn't get humped by England in the Calcutta Cup match. OK they did lose but not in the way everyone expected. Evans got an excellent try and Paterson (whom I love) did the most kick ass tackle ever to stop a try by less than a metre. Both sides got one try each, Scotland got a drop goal and the rest were penalties so not a result to be ashamed of.
6. Two good things today- A: Had a meeting with a really lovely committee Chair who is super keen to get things shaken up and moved into the 21st century! B: I am now going to the Big City on Friday to use sheer embarrassment to show some of our members that they cannot bully staff into breaking/bending rules just because they can't be arsed to follow them. They want someone to do a tedious and tiring job at their event so I - the 8 month pregnant person they like - am going to get up at 05:30 am to get their to do it for them and I will make sure that they know about it. They normally bully the facilities staff into doing what they demand but I think it's time someone stood up to them. That might not seem a positive thing but as I get no support from Senior Management I want to make sure that I stand up for other staff when I'm in a position to do so :)
7. Yesterday I got the train to another country that is attached to this one. It was lovely and sunny and all of the people that came to the meeting I was running were mostly nice to me! And I got to see my brother for a couple of hours :)
8. Today on the train back to this country I got all of the notes written up from last night's meeting - I feel efficient!
9. Tonight I learnt that I should be able to go to the midwife led unit for Ziggy's birth which is fab as it's way more chilled and it's what I was hoping for.
10. Today I got up at silly o'clock to get to the Big City to sort out those old blokes. I did what needed to be done then did some work then pootled home early as knackered. I then had a lovely lunch with MrT. Now to watch a film and chill out eating sweeties!
11. Lots of fun things today. MrT and I had a lazy start which ended up getting food planned and shopping done for the next 2 weeks. When MrT went off to work after lunch I went off for a craft shop run with my friend in the sunshine which was fun and got a few bits and bobs for Ziggy's arrival. Going out with my friend meant missing the rugby and my darling boys avoided being grannied for the whole of the 6 nations by winning! I'm now watching MrT's national side get humped :) We've also got a beef stew and some spag bol (-the spag at the mo) on the go to be split into portions and frozen so that we can eat properly for the first couple of weeks of Ziggy's life. AND it's sunny enough to have washing out and that's lovely!
12. Today has been a bit of a funny day as MrT has been on a course - yet again - and I'm trying to rest up so I'm not so knackered by mid-week. The good thing that happened today involved speaking to lots of nice people at church and hearing a very very elderly lady make a hilarious speech about a cake. Best of all the mum of one of the kids in the youth group I help with offered me a key to her house for when my Mother in Law visits (which if Ziggy is overdue will be at about week 1!) so that I could have somewhere quiet during the day to escape to! OK so I wouldn't be able to use it as then the wrath of the inlaws would be upon me and MrT would go mental but it was a lovely gesture and it made me feel part of the community and as if the community is trying to protect me which is a lovely feeling :)
13. Today I got lots and lots of things achieved at work. Some of it wasn't even my work (colleague signed off sick for a couple of weeks and nobody else has realised that her stuff still needs doing). I'm feeling very good about myself :)
14. Today I was given a parcel for Ziggy which contained two of the cutest jumpers I've ever seen! One knitted by a colleague which will probably fit a few months down the line and a much smaller one knitted by her Mum (whom we've never met) which looks like a tiny technocolour dreamcoat. I also got home from work to discover MrT with a friend of ours with his wee boy (aged 1) who'd popped round to play/say hello which was lovely.
15. Today I went to my first aquanatal class with a friend from church. It was actually quite good fun. I don't normally go in for group fitness things but it was good fun and low impact on my joints which is what I need right now. AND it was super sunny today and that lifted my mood in general :)
16. Today we had our last antenatal class which was all about what to do with your baby once it arrives. It was really helpful and we got to ask lots of questions since of the 30 people there the first week there were only 10 of us.
17. My best friend is here :)
18. The boys got the garden veggie plots all dug up and weeded. I did some digging until I pulled a bump muscle then I decided that perhaps it was safer to plant out the seeds into trays instead. After bumping into friends at the garden centre this morning when out getting compost we were invited around late afternoon for tea and cake which was lovely!
19. Today I had a lovely walk in the country park with my friend before dropping him off to get the train back north. MrT had a good training session for his hobby and I managed to get some washing done and all of the birthday/mothers day presents wrapped and packaged to see us through until after Ziggy is born :)
20. Today we laughed a lot at work - that was nice :)
21. Today I got lots of awkward website updating done for work which I have been avoiding and I think it all worked so now I feel good!
22. Another aquanatal class tonight which was lots of fun :)
23. Today it's hard to think of something positive - two of my Guides made me a cake (before another one had a crazy tantrum!)
24. Today was my last day on my own - my maternity cover starts on Monday and the teaching begins!
25. Today was super warm and I got lots of Ziggy's stuff sorted out. We got a new storage unit up on the wall and some curtains up. The curtains are yellow with hiking bears on (I know that sounds weird). My Mum made me the curtains when I was about 16-17 ans she found them the other day and sent them down. They make me happy!
26. Today is my first Mothering Sunday even though Ziggy isn't yet born. I had a lovely card from Ziggy (made by MrT) and some card making related presents :) It was also super sunny which made me happy!
27. Today my maternity cover started so it's time to get over my issues with relinquishing control - she's good though so that'll make it easier. It's nice to know that someone good is taking control while I'm away and she didn't look horrified at the list of projects I've left for her. I also went to a breastfeeding workshop which was very interesting and useful. That was my last bit of antenatal education so I guess it's just waiting for the "Thundercats are go" moment!
28. Got lots more info passed on to my maternity cover today - I thought I'd struggle with the idea of passing it over but it's less painful than I expected.
29. A lovely warm sunny day and we got through 23 of the 75 committees so it seems that we should get everything covered by the end of next week. In other news someone from work who was due the week before me had her baby today so it really could be any time now!
30. The Guides did a photo scavenger hunt that we'd spent ages setting up and we were a bit worried they would argue or not like it. Well it was a bit like a mass challenge anneka with all 3 teams running in different directions at all times and they loved it. They also enjoyed making felt egg cosies that looked like bunnies. In Ziggy news he's been moving and wriggling a LOT and I think he's running out of space. Any time after a week tomorrow will be fine for an appearance as after 37 weeks we can go to the midwife led unit rather than the scary delivery unit so it's looking good :)
31. The amazing wriggling Ziggy is as mobile as ever although doesn't seem to be aiming for my ribs so much today. Only 9 working days left at work which is great. I've also got to the point where I'm so tired I just want to be not there and I'm finally happy to pass my role over to someone else.
32. Today I got MrT's watch fixed, cut the grass, washed the outside of the downstairs windows and washed my car. Not bad for a big fat whale. I then spent the afternoon chilling in the sunshine eating ice lollies with a friend followed by coffee and cake at another friend's place. MrT is not doing a night shift now so that he can do some more of his charity stuff tomorrow but it means we get a nice evening together :)
33. Today it was very sunny - nothing else good happened it was not a good day but it was sunny.
34. Today I got through the rest of the committees with my maternity cover, got my emails sorted and tidied up a bit. Might not sound that exciting but as I think Ziggy is engaged/has moved down a bit the sooner I get my maternity cover sorted the better.
35. Today I got my desk cleared and all my paperwork/crap sorted for my cover. I had a midwife appointment where she confirmed that Ziggy has started moving south which is why it's all feeling a bit weird. I'd actually be happy for Ziggy to be born any time now - work is sorted and I can't wait to meet him/her.
36. My old Boss (who is not a nice man and made my life very grim) may have finally come unstuck today. If this all blows up on him I actually feel sorry for him - he just can't seem to think before promising things he can't! In nicer news I think Ziggy is still heading south which is groovy although apparently I'm now visibly knackered.
37. Today we saw Ziggy again on a scan. Kinda looks like a pissed off squished hamster (I'd be annoyed if I was that squashed).
38. I got my tooth fixed (hard sweeties are bad for your teeth)!
39. Today MrT was at a training course (again) and I managed to get the shopping, two loads of washing and the dishes done before I flaked out and had no energy - so quite a good day I thought :) My bum has definitely moved south which means Ziggy is getting in position to make an appearance. I also had crazy bump pains again at 4am but I'm not sure if they're just ligament pain as it's always in the same place. My bump definitely goes through contractions which aren't painful just weird so I think they're Braxton Hicks - typically for me I need to do the practice ones first!
40. Day 40 but it's not the last day of Lent - always confused me! More contractions this morning but still nothing to get excited about. It's Palm Sunday today so church involved using a scalectrix and Jesus in a Mini - wouldn't have been nearly as good if it had worked!
41. Today is super sunny, it's my last week at work, it's a four day week, I'm doing lots of work to help my colleague who needs some serious help without her realising (she's got super-crap personal stuff going on right now) and I'm really glad I'm not going to be around the office for the next 6 months while it's all going a bit wrong - bring on maternity leave!
42. Today I spent the day doing bits and bobs for colleagues to get their to-do piles down and that seemed to make them happy. I also cut out some flags to make bunting for Thursday (don't ask!). A colleague and her 2 kids (4 and 6) came by the office today even though she's on holiday and dropped off several big bin bags full of baby toys, clothes and general bits and bobs as well as a travel cot!
43. Today I got a few more bits and bobs done at work and generally realised how glad I am that tomorrow is my last day. I'm busy making cakes for my last day including a red, white and blue sponge (3 tier - my team are obsessed with the royal wedding) and a guinness and chocolate cake - mmmmmmmmmm!
44. Today was my last day at work :):):):)
45. My first day off didn't exactly go to plan (the plan where I get to sit and chill all day) but we did have friends round for a bbq following some frantic cleaning. It's super sunny and I managed to not get sunburnt.
