More food firsts!

Our first crop of potatoes. This is only a few for dinner tonight (with friends we're not potato eating fiends). There were a few that had been munched by slugs but they're mostly ok. I just get over what a wonderful colour they are. BTW the green thing is our first cucumber not a mouldy potato.

Our first attempt at Plum Vodka - we'll see at Christmas if it's drinkable.

Yummy cheesecake for dinner with friends - my first proper baked cheesecake.

Is it sugar in the bottom of the plum vodka? I've tried making cranberry vodka but unfortunately used overly cheap vodka. It was more like cranberry, uhm, methanol! Made pomegranate vodka last year - goes pink but little additional flavour. Am planning to make Brammle this or next weekend (whisky and blackberries and some sugar syrup to make it a liqueur - very homely!).

Yeah it's a recipe that one of my colleagues has used a lot and I found lots of similar on tinternet. ~500g plums (slit), covered (~5cm above top of plums) with sugar then vodka (70cl). We've used stripey vodka so we'll see how that goes!
